My View
When I was thinking about the topic I should write about , it was really easy for me. Hazards the kids might face on the internet has always been a big issue in the world and I was always concerned about it. Since I was a child I have always been exposed to the risks , even when of the early beginning of the internet. Especially of the social networks. In the past ten years that Facebook and other social networks exist , the technology has overcome a huge step and it is more and more easy for a internet predator to get to his victims. When I was at the most vulnerable age in middle school , no one has ever talked to us about the danger and bad intentions , that the person on the other side of the screen might have. A good step the society has made since then is , that there are informative workshops , educated school teachers and a public knowledge that kids come across to in school or in home to inform them , about the downsides of the internet platform. However even when we make the best we can to prevent the bad scenerios from happening , there are still a number of cases , that end up badly. This is the reason , why I made my mind to write my blog and about this topic , to keep the public informed , that there are still a lot of dangerous people on the internet we have to protect our kids from.
On the internet we can be who we want to be , we can make up our new identity, new life and new background , that has nothing to do with the reality. It helps people to get away from their everyday stereotype lives and forget about their issues and troubles.
It doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl , if you are obese or skinny or what age you are. On the internet you can became who you want to be. The fact that we sit behind a screen and between the other person and us is a big distance gives us a feeling of confidence and power. We are on the internet unlimited and have no boundaries or rules.
As one of the basic priorities in the fight against the danger kids might face on the Internet, might be better information not only for children but also for parents and educational staff in schools. Children need to be told more often that it's not just about turning on a computer or mobile phone and connecting to the internet and entering a fairy-tale world of almost limitless possibilities. We have to tell them that like in fairy tales, various pitfalls and evil beings might lurk on them in the Internet environment , and that, in contrast to the fairy world in our real world, good does not always over evil. In order for evil not to prevail, parents need to be more interested in their children and have more insight into their activities on the Internet despite their precious time.
The aim of the blog is to create an overview of existing risks related to the use of social networks by children and youth based on data processing from specific criminal cases and several researches.
Therefore, I would like this work to improve the awareness of the risks that most of all children in the Internet environment may experience and if my blog helps to avert even one real danger that any child might face, then my efforts have not been wasted.

What the Experts Say II
In this article from BBC news the writer discusses the case of a 36-year old Michael Wheeler , from Cambridge , that waited for the girls he was chatting with to be 13 , so he would avoid being jailed for a lifetime if being caught. He had met his first victim on a internet chat room when she was 11 and then stayed in touch with her for the past two years. In the mean time he was buiyng her presents and taking her to the cinema. However , ,,Wheeler was told by Judge Philip Curl, passing sentence at Norwich Crown Court, he would be freed on licence after serving half his sentence providing he behaved well. E.g.'' wrote the autor of the BBC article. (BBC news article, 2003)
This article further discusses the issue of other sexual harassing problems. If you want to learn more about this case any many others you can click on the link below.

What the Experts Say I
In relation to this subject I found two articles discussing this problematic.
The first one is a ,,Publication Risks of internet communication IV was created within the research of project E-Bezpečí, which is realized by Centre for the Prevention of risky virtual communication at the Pedagogical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc’’(from Kamil Kopecký , 2014)
This Publication has about 150 pages and discusses all the possible issues that people can on the internet come across. The author discusses on the first twenty pages cyberbullying. He writes about what really cyberbullying is , describes the victims of cyberbullying , traditional differences between bullying and cyberbullying and so on. After that he gives light on the issue of cyber grooming and sexting. Current Events II
Webcam trolling
Webcam Trolling is a type of fraud , when the abuser creates/downloads and uses a fake video with a different person in front of the screen and presents it to the victim as a real webcam image. It is usually a video loop , that is used while chatting with the victim.
To attach a fake recording to a video chat, it is possible to have a special application that simulates a virtual vacation and saves it for video recording. You can connect this fake video with web video chat or instant messengers, and you can download fake videos to Facebook or Skype.
With this fake video the internet troll gains the victims trust and records the victim's record throughout the video call, which he then wants to misuse, for example, for the victim's extradition, threats, cyberbullying, stalking, etc.
As an example I you can watch this video from You Tube. In this video is a young boy on social platform called ,, Omegle ,, is looking for a girl to chat with and exchange visual sexual content. We can see , that it is not very hard to be a webcam troller , because every teenager can install and use it on his computer. If you want to know how it ends, just click on the link below.
Current Events I
At first I would like to take a closer look on two current popular and issues that kids nowadays are facing on the internet and give you a specific case .
Cyber grooming
Not everyone knows , what the term cyber grooming actually means , however almost every of us has came across in his past in some kind of form of cyber grooming.
Not everyone knows , what the term cyber grooming actually means , however almost every of us has came across in his past in some kind of form of cyber grooming.
Cyber grooming is basically a dangerous act ,when predators or cyber groomers try to gain a false trust feeling in a victim and force him/her to a personal meeting. It is a form of a psychological manipulation through the internet , mostly threw Facebook , Instagram , tinder , skype and other popular social networks.
However , the result of the meeting with the predator (usually much older person that the victim) isn’t a friendly meeting as the victim things , but a meeting in intention of sexual act, usually with a child .The internet is nowadays very easy and very popular way for pedophiles to find a possible target. Sadly it usually doesn’t always end with a sexual act and the victim could also be forced into child prostitution or child pornography.
The case of Peter Chapman
In March 2010 Peter Chapman was sentenced to life in prison for raping and murdering a 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall. He wheedled her into a personal meeting under false identity via Facebook by creating a fake profile of 19-year-old name Peter Cartwright.
The case of Douglas Lindsell
Douglas Lindsell claimed to be a 15 years old boy , dying of cancer on a group chat. He forced two girls aged 13 and 14 years into a personal meeting, however these girls managed to escape. He kept a database of more than 70 children and communicated with them.

Hazards kids might face on the internet
In this blog, I would like to inform and educate you about the basic information of the issues a child might face on the internet. You can make your own opinion about the issue. If you have any questions, leave me a comment in the comment section below. I am truly interested in this topic since we live in an era full of technology and for a child the use of it is practically inevitable. The children’s skills and understanding of using the internets often exceeds that of their parents, and therefore, many parents may not be able to protect their children online. I think this topic is rather important since a lot of parent often leave their child unattended in the virtual environment where they can face a lot of dangers. For exaple, children are often naive and unexperienced, thus, may be easy victims of virtual predators. The internet expands every second and that is also the reason I chose to discuss this topic because I feel it is necessary to protect and educate children about how to safely use it.
